New Motto

Devin and I have been going through some trials. Nothing new or scary and certainly nothing that you all have not been through before. But we have just been faced with some decisions which have been weighing on us. I have been pondering about "the right choice" that we should make about some of these trials and questions we have. Today on my lunch break I was starting to gather some material for a talk I have to give on Sunday (and yes, this is the third or fourth time we have talked in 2 years) when I came across Elder Richard C. Edgley's October 2010 conference on faith. In this talk he talks about how to have faith is a choice and one that we all have to make. One sentence that he said really hit me and now has become my motto for life right now. He said, "Choose faith. Choose faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen and choose faith over pessimism." Now does choosing faith make trials and questions go away? No. But I pray that it will make things a little more clear, bearable, peaceful. How wonderful is that phrase? I am grateful for the tender mercies from my Father in Heaven.
